Chocolate Intrigue

3 c All-purpose flour
2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
1 c Butter or margarine
2 c Sugar
3 Eggs; unbeaten
1 c Milk
1 ts Vanilla
3/4 c Chocolate syrup
1/2 ts Baking soda

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Cream margarine and sugar. Blend in eggs, milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture and blend thoroughly. Pour 2/3 of batter into greased tube pan. Add syrup and baking soda to remaining matter and pour over white batter in pan. DO NOT MIX. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Place a sheet of aluminum foil loosely on top of pan. Continue baking for 25 minutes. Cool completely before removing from pan. This cake is fast and easy to make. Tastes good, and is pretty when you cut it.
