Old Sog Chocolate Cake

2 c. sugar
2/3 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water

Beat eggs in mixing bowl, add dry ingredients and beat just until mixed (DO NOT OVER BEAT), add water, stir by hand. Batter will be thin. Pour batter into greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees (glass pans 325 degrees). Two 9" pans approximately 25 minutes or 1 (9"x13") pan for 45 to 50 minutes.
